Check Your Mental Health
Question: How do we check on our mental health and how can Naluri help me?
Let's Talk About Mental Health
Mental health is defined by the overall state of how you manage your behaviour, feelings, and thoughts. As with physical health which can be good and bad, your mental health also falls on a spectrum, and it’s not unusual for you to have good mental health some days and not so great mental health on other days. The reason you should care about improving your overall mental health is that it has a broader impact on your quality of life. For example, your affected mental health can influence:
Your relationship with your loved ones (family and friends)
Your productivity at work
Your interest in social activities
Energy levels
Sleep and rest
Most people can tell if something is “off”. They say they “don’t feel like their usual selves”. If that feeling is temporary, it’s quite normal. However, if that feeling persists, perhaps it’s time to do a self-check-in. Check your mental health here.
The tell-tale signs of good mental health
You feel good
One sign of good mental health is feeling good and being satisfied with the way things are going. Your mood, and more specifically, any dramatic shifts for the worse in mood, are good indicators that you may have to check in with your mental health.
You participate
A sense of belonging is a great indicator of security, acceptance, and support. If you find yourself withdrawing from your usual social interactions and failing to find joy in the activities you once found fun, that’s a good indicator that your mental health has taken a hit.
If you need someone to talk to, to work through your feelings, reach out to a Naluri Mental Health Coach via phone or WhatsApp or psychologist via one-on-one consultations.
While it is common to occasionally experience loneliness, extended periods of social isolation are a sign that your mental health could use some support.
One thing to note is that sometimes others will notice shifts in your mental well-being before you do. Here it’s important to have an open mind and to be open to getting support from others.
You bounce back from challenges
Sometimes bad things happen but you may have noticed that there are people who are particularly good at bouncing back from adversities. Resilience is an example of good mental health. Resilience is your ability to adapt and bounce back when things don't go as planned. Resilient people don't wallow or dwell on failures; they acknowledge the situation, learn from their mistakes, and then move forward.
If your resilience is affected and you find yourself spiralling and feeling overwhelmed easily, it might be a good time to check in with your mental health.
The great news is that resilience can be improved, and if you’d like to learn more about how you can do that, reach out to a Naluri Mental Health Coach.
